The Germantown Village Board approved Ordinance 2013-05, An Ordinance Repealing Section 24-4-8 and Creating Section 24-4-12 of Article V, Chapter 24 of the Revised Code of Ordinances of the Village of Germantown, Clinton County, Illinois, effective May 1, 2013.
Proof of current liability insurance
Must be certified with the Village and have the vehicles certified with the Village by inspection by the Village designated representative
Must display a Village decal on the front and rear of the vehicle
Must have a current, valid Illinois drivers license
Golf carts and Utility Terrain Vehicles must be equipped as follows:
Brakes and brake lights
Turn signals on the front and rear
A steering wheel apparatus
Approved "Slow Moving Vehicle" emblem on the rear of the vehicle
Headlight that emits a white light visible from a distance of Five Hundred (500) feet to the front which must illuminate when in operation
Tail lamp that emits a red light visible from at least One Hundred (100) feet from the rear which must be illuminated when in operation
Any additional requirements which may be amended to 65 ILCS 5/11-1428, 65 ILCS 5/11-1426.1 or the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code
Golf carts and UTV's must be operated only on Village Streets, except where prohibited; may not be operated on streets, highways and roads under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IL Hwy 161) or County Highway Department (County Road 7, aka Hanover Street and Drive In Road); and must not be operated in excess of posted speed limit within the Village. Golf Carts and UTV's shall not be operated on any Village sidewalks.
Operators of golf carts and UTV's must obey all traffic laws of the State of Illinois and the Village of Germantown and must be Sixteen (16) years of age with a valid State of Illinois driver's license.
